AN OAK TREE BY TIM CROUCH

An Oak Tree

by Tim Crouch

Directed by Ruth Alexander*

A man loses his daughter to a car.

The driver is a stage hypnotist.

These two men meet when the father volunteers for the Hypnotist's act.

The actor playing the father is replaced at each performance. They have never read the play until they're onstage and in it.

An Oak Tree is an astonishing tour de force about art, loss and the power of suggestion.

Eight performances only.

Theatre Yes is proudly based in amiskwaciwâskahikan ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ NA on Treaty 6 Territory. Stories have been told and music has been played upon this land since time immemorial. Some of us are recent settlers here, others have many generations of attachment to the land but we are all guests and have a duty to honor and care for the land and to respect the languages, culture and traditions of those who have called it home for centuries before we arrived. We are all treaty people. Together we can listen, learn from the past and try to heal the deep wounds of colonialism towards reconciliation. We make this acknowledgement as a sign of respect and gratitude to the First Nation People of this land where we thrive and create.
